Healing Beyond the ‘Norm’

For survivors of any trauma or event that has felt traumatic;

toxic bullying in the workplace / divorce / bereavement / sexual abuse, an illness (the list is endless right)!!

Living in constant fight-or-flight mode, the suggestion to “just sit and meditate” or “focus on your breath” can feel impossible—maybe even triggering. It’s not as simple as pausing or calming down when those very acts can take you back to a place of trauma.

That’s why, at Nook and Nourish, we approach healing outside the box. What’s “normal” elsewhere might not work here—and that’s okay. We embrace what’s unique, what works for you, and what feels safe.

One of the ways we help people reconnect is through simple, sensory rituals like focusing on your tea and so Meditea(te) was formed.

Feeling the warmth of the mug in your hands.
Noticing the steam rising, the aroma of the herbs.
Tuning into the sound of the water as you pour.
Tasting the flavours, slowly, mindfully.

This might seem small, but these sensory moments create a bridge back to safety in your body. They help you connect to the here and now, where healing begins.

We also lean on practices like pendulation (gently moving between safety and challenge) and titration (breaking healing into small, manageable steps). These tools allow you to reconnect with your body slowly, with compassion, without overwhelm.

This isn’t about doing it perfectly. It’s about doing it in a way that feels right for you.

Healing looks different for everyone, and at Nook and Nourish, we honour that. Whether it’s through mindful rituals, movement, fascia work, or breathwork with a twist, we create a space where you can find safety, connection, and self-empowerment.

If you’ve been longing for a new way to heal, one that meets you where you are, join us. Together, we’ll rewrite what healing can look like.

With love from my soul to yours Michelle 🦞🫶🏼
